Be nice to get a job in Aberdeen as have family up there.. Spent all my summers up there as a kid as my Dad's from there originally. Used to stay with my Grandma. Great memories.

Ive looked at all of Karndean's ranges. Unfortunately they all mark and damage quite easily (eg a light swipe with a steak knife tip will leave a deep scratch). However, some color finishes show the damage more than others.

Look into a good polish. 3 coats and then most marks will be on the polish not the tile itself. Then every year or two strip and re-polish and your floor will start fresh and undamaged.

Not a lot of people bother with polish but I think if you look after your LVT it will last and look great for many years.

Don't scrape a steak knife over it then ?

If you hit a wall in you home with a hammer your going to damage it !
You can sctatch any floor the key is looking after it ie. Use use turtle matt's at entrances to take any grit off your shoes & use the correct protective coating/polishes which can be easily remove & reapplied.
No particular LVT is more resistant to scratches than others but one with a heavier wear layer protects the tile more. The heavier the wear layer normally means the heavier the price.
Also hard sealers are available which are a lot tuffer version of the standard polishes but a rearly used in a domestic environment as you need a rotary buffing/sanding machine to remove when you want to reapply.
Some fitters with this gear can offer this as a service though !

Basically look to buy anything with a .55 wear layer or more, anything over .55 is regarded suitable for commercial use, always look to buy maintainer kits when possible and always strip and re-polish after a year if you can as it will keep the floor looking amazing, I would suggest a mid oak floor if possible as the dark or light colours tend to show marks up more.
Take a look at distinctive flooring Milano, tan oak, Roma or water oak, or karndean Van Gogh or art select, or polyflor expona etc, if your looking at trying to get your floor done on the cheap lvt isn't the answer for you, it's costly for a reason, the floor prep has to right for a reason, a specialist has to fit it...again for a reason. If you want laminate it will fail soon or later

I have a friend with a shop in Carnoustie if that's handier for you? He does Amtico, Karndean and Moduleo flooring. The shop is called The Floor Studio ask for Gary 07747867308. He does a huge amount of domestic and commercial work and will be able to do a site visit and advise what would work best from there. :)

Finally im able to poat. Set up new profile as my old one wasnt allowing me too post.

I work for aspect furnishings who are based in aberdeen. To my understanding as i've only been there since last july they've done plenty work in dundee before. We have just today completed an 11 bedroom hotel up in aberdeenshire. We've layed karndean art select strip wood in the public bar and hallways. Looks really nice and im sure will stand up to the foot traffic.
I have to say i prefer the LVTs to laminate as its alot warmer on bare foot and hasnt got that clicky clacky sound when people are moving around. Looks more like a real wooden flooring aswell. And certain tiles can be replaced if damaged, usually with no complications as to replacing a laminate board.

Cheers guys. Really appreciate the help.

The LVT is expensive and I will have to see if a budget could stretch to that but I think we decided to get it put in the house when we change the floor! Hopefully we can stretch to it.

You guys are legends cheers, will give the guy in Carnoustie a call.

If you were to mop a laminate floor 3/4 times daily it will be destroyed in a short time, they hate moisture. The edges of the boards will swell, what with spillages and such I would not recommend a laminate.
