    Hi Guys

I am slightly overwhelmed by all the responses and help. I can only say thanks

All the pictures look great and great finish. I had Floor Factory over today to quote on price etc and they have set them selves at £750 for 8.45sqm, which seems little excessive for me (labour and material) but understand if that's the going rate.

I have though an independent fitter popping over on Wednesday to size up and quote and he mentioned he would bring his samples and provide costing of what he can get me...

One thing the Floor Factory chap said to me was around the guarantee. He said he wouldn't bother fitting the Karndean from a independent fitter, as the 15 year guarantee would be void if something were to go wrong. I did state what of the rest of the other flooring and independent fitters that don't go through commercial flooring brands to which i didn't gain much of a response.

From looking at the pictures etc i can see that a lot of you fit Karndean, which brings me to the question - does fitting from an independent fitter void the guarantee? understand if its down to bad workmanship...

    Thanks in advance

(will upload pics once the work has been done for future reference)

This would all depend on where the independent flooring contractor is buying the material from, if direct from the manufacturer then yes if via a 3rd party then no I wouldn't have thought so.

How did you want it being laid? Straight/diagonally etc? What does his quote say is included for £750?

uploadfromtaptalk1398714754845.jpg To be laid by a skilled floor fitter. The guarantee really doesn't cover much other than ( under normal use ! ) it won't wear out in the time the product states. In the case of van gogh 15 years I believe.

To be fair £750 seems about right, assuming it includes vat. After all the pack size would come to 9.75m2

well the guarantee doesn't state much around buying from the dealer and fitter must be skilled along with the normal guarantee points

I wanted it laid straight and the quote is broken by the below

    390 for planks (3 boxes)
90 Screed (concrete floor, seems flat but of course unsure of condition underneath carpet)
    20 Adhesive
    160 fitting
90 Plates (between the doors - he said he would use quickstep plates to match the floor and i would need 3)

well after a very quick on-line - best prices so far between £25-28m2, which is quite shocking as Floor Factory are happily charging me £38

the guarantee that dannyboy posted doesn't state buying online to buying from retailer. it stated to be fitted by a professional fitter and again doesn't state Karndean recommended fitter.

If i have time tomorrow, i think i will contact Karndean on subject just to clarify and return to all.

Just come across Project Flooring, which looks great and similar to Karndean...any views of it...

If Only I had a £1 for every time I've heard "the concrete floor seems flat" under 20mm of carpet and underlay!!!!
    No offence

The guarantee does state something about a retail partner though !

Please don't buy online. You never know what your getting !!!!
I don't have an account with Karndean. However I buy through a reputable flooring distributer who will back me up and in turn call on Karndean to follow up any complaints. The guarantee on the other hand has alot of get out clauses and unfortunately it will all boil down to the fitting no matter where you go !

You could get a quickstep floor with a 25 year guarantee and have it installed with a 2 year fitting warrenty by a accredited quickstep fitter. Sounds like it would be cheaper too
