My son has been riding round our house on a ride on toy and parts of our engineered, varnished oak floor has lost its varnish and gone dirty! It's only in parts and wondered are there any products I can buy to clean the grubby bits where the vanish has come off and any products to protect these areas and mAke it waterproof as don't want to revarnish the whole floor as its open plan and would be the whole downstairs. Any help appreciated .... Thanks!
With Mario here, you just can't put a bit of polish/lacquer/whatever on the bare patches as it will stick out like a sore thumb, unfortunately a full sand and seal will be the proper way forward for you...
As the other boys have said the best way forward is to sand and seal the whole floor, What has happen is the lacquer has worn off the top surface, which allows the oak contact with the air and water, with cleaning which makes it go darker, if your willing to see the difference you could go back to a sealed board, tape up along the joint and sand down to a clean oak colour and then apply the primer and top coats, but you will always notice it.
