Tomorrow ( 27/6/2014) a local flooring place to me called Jedens will close. Its in west derby, Liverpool.
As some of you may know I have stored a lot of my gear there for 15 years and met Paul there most mornings to sort our jobs out for the day. Met a lot of local floorlayers there too.
They have struggled the last 5-8 years due to not being able to bulk buy like Alvin Morris and lee Floorstock which are within a few miles of them. But on some products I got good prices.

I have supported them a lot even though they are dearer for most things but they were very reliable and never let me down. And also I got free coffee ;-)

Gutted for the 2 lads Andy and Paul and hope they both find new jobs.

Sad day when any local shops shut but this is the way of the world now with places like carpet and flooring etc being able to offer big discounts Jedens couldn't stand a chance in the long run.

I will miss the banter there in the mornings and seeing graham O'connel there causing trouble.

Good luck John, Andy and Paul for your future.

    End of a Era.

There was Adam. I got about 30 sheets sp101 for £10 a sheet and loads of various 8ft doortrims at £1 each.

Know the feeling well mate, had to let staff go and come out of 1080ft warehouse, down to one van and lost a lot of business due to recession and the big boys.
The big boys did well just selling carpets and the like, when the recession hit they struggled too and then jumped on the accessory market and blew a lot of us small independents out of the water that just did tools and small supplies.
Hence I do what I do, back on the tools and diversify....
