At the end of the day the shop/fitter will have to replace/repair the work if its not right...if they don't then Karndean should step in and stop them from advertising as a approved retailer. Customers buy Karndean on the name, Karndean have their approved installers and if they do a crap job do Karndean just say sorry you got a crap installer?

Correct me if im wrong as I may be, but isnt the karndean certified tag given to shops (not fitters) that just so happen to shift a ton of the products and pretty much dedicate half their shop for the stands and the design table etc?? as that was the impression I got from someone ive spoke too before in regards to how they became a amtico certified shop, you shift enough gear and pack out the shop with the stands and your in the club.

    Totally agree with Merit's post

To answer pf flooring well if that is the case then the Karndean model is wrong, and ultimately will affect their business the shops should only use approved installers or lose their official links with Karndean

Some have mentioned my earlier posts when it was getting installed but this just confirms the point - I should never have been on these forums asking these questions - the whole point of going down the official karndean store via kardean head office route and paying a lot ££ sq meter is to ensure a high quality finish and install and more importantly a stress free time for the customer

Like I said could be wrong but generally speaking but I know for a fact that somebody I spoke too got the amtico certified tag because of the amount they were shifting, its why their is only one internet outlet that is an official partner with amtico £££££££ for most companies it is all about the money, and as far as I know (and again could be wrong) fitters can't become certified by these companies the only thing we can do is do their courses and get a certificate thats says we have attended their training centre for a couple of days I know because I have asked and they said no such thing, the only thing we can say without getting in trouble is 'amtico/karndean trained'

am fairly sure it was a couple yrs ago Karndean started telling all retailers that they had to have at least 1 fitter who had done a course

If Karndean did say that then retailers defo aren't taking notice ? To be fare there probably wouldn't be enough Karndean trained fitters to go around especially considering guys like use who do it off are own backs & work independently.

But then that's the answer Always use a trained installer & buy it from them to lol

Spacey I agree that is the best option and if I if I knew then what I know now I would not have gone down the official Karndean route as its not as official as they make out

It's not all about being trained or not trained...
A fitter could be trained then cut corners on their work and someone not 'trained' could have self taught over 20 years and not cut any corners in their fitting!
@iandv, if your so unhappy about the work get yourself an independent knowledgable fitter in to have a look over it and advise you on it and what was done wrong (if anything) or what needs fixing (if anything) rather then keep coming back and fourth on the forums.
Just seems this is taking far longer then it should and you've now had nearly 25 pages over your 2 threads on the same job!!

Btw, don't mean that in a bad way, just having someone look at the job in person would be far quicker then coming online

proved wrong! lol most fitters who have done the karndean/amtico course will have done the basic course though id of imagined, I take it youve done the advanced course cool do they allow you to use the phrase karndean approved fitter or is that just used at a shop level?

That doesn't mean independent contractors aren't official we're just not on the Karndean website but still trained & have official accounts so you still get the product wear guarantee !! Bit to late for this info now though sorry

Just digressing slightly, some fitters take pride in their work and the job in hand will take as long as it takes. Some fitters will bash it down as quick as possible to get on to the next job. I'm still a great believer in quality not quantity. If this means I lose a job then so be it !
