Have a job to quote with a hatch in the floor. Any ideas how I could finish it around the hatch are. Its going to be in a LVT floor.
I done one recently where the subfloor once ply 'd was spot on level wise. So I just fitted up to it and left a 2 mm gap all around , I beveled all exposed edges. It looked great. But it must be absolutely spot on to do this I think. I've also used dim strips in the past.
Yeah I'd defo do that then. I think it's the neatest way of doing it , plus you get a great grab on ply don't you so edges will stick well too.
Tile trim under the ply then fit up to with lvt http://www.trimtraders.co.uk/straig...rims/genesis-aluminium-formable-trim-efa.html
Thats what i was looking for. Thought I'd seen someone post a finished pick on here before with that but couldn't find the thread.
The curtained can buy a proper trap door that will have correct edging for lvt to sit into. That's the best finish. Chances are they won't tho so you just end up plying and cutting a channel out. That's what I had to do. Only problem was the hatch door was chipboard. After being down 2 years there door bowed as it was cheap raising the edges of the karndean. There not your problem but maybe worth pointing out if there's also looks cheap
These are brilliant, but expensive I`ve just placed an order for some more, as I was so impressed with these http://www.howegreen.com/en/uk/index.php
I use the Gradus Tag trim or the TA6/TA8 trim for Lvt edge finish. We sometimes use these in between The entrance matting and the shop floor Lvt. Great for using on curves as well with the pre punched base. I use Ardurapid A45 to smooth out the edge on the fixing side, it also helps to get the lvt bang flush.
