Looking for some advice/guidance looking at landing and stairs carpet and I know there are many variables, however just want to sense check my thinking. I’ve attached a picture drawing not to scale, however measurements are correct. My simple view is that if the carpet is 2.5m wide and 10m long then this should be enough to (give or take) to cover the attached including stairs. There may need to be a couple of joins but they are in areas away from main traffic. I have been told that I will need 39m2 which is mainly driven by the Carpet shown only coming in 4m widths. I asked which ones come in 2.5m but was told that this would not alter the amount of carpet required and waste would be minimal. I know there are many factors that could increase the 2m, however 19m2 seems excessive. cheers for the help
Is it 6 winders? the problem is laying that way you have the pile of the carpet going the wrong way over the top step. You have it side in instead of over the top and down.
Id prob measure in as 1m x 5m 2.7m x 5m Then add the stairs. in one piece you would go 10m x 4m but side on over top step.
It’s 3 winders at the bottom of the stairs (turns 90 degrees). 4x10m is the current quote and I guess that way there will be no joins. But will the same apply as the pile on the top step going the wrong way?
It would yes. Did they not mention that? I always give the customer a choice of a join or the step going the wrong way. Every step on the stairs the pile should face down.
The plan was to have a join somewhere where when the guy came out to measure up, however when the quote came it was in one piece. I’ll ask them again but suspect the carpet chosen is only in 4m widths so will require 2 joins. Thank you for your help.
