Asphalt subfloors

    i also prefer normal tongue and groove.

    Anyway, if the product to be fitted has a suitable tongue + groove to float, pva, etc then i would consider this option. O and is a o.k width plank to float also.

    As for underlay i would look at Timbermate xl.

    NOT fibre board rubbish.

    Just don't like t&g floated glue and clamp pain in the arse.

    Another question. Why are asphalt floors used? Surely there is an alternative? Other than digging up all the concrete and laying new with dpc of course.

    Some old houses without a dpm in liverpool have had asphalt laid over the old concrete. Then Screeded and vinyl tiles. They have been doing that as long as I can remember. Since early 90s at least.
    Think its a fast track system as the day after its done you can lay on it or screed it.
    If I see a cracked one I would tell them to get it up as the dpm will fail.
    But overall I think they do a job.

    Think last time I had it done it was £16m2 for about 100 m2 job.
