    Hi all,
I am about to lay some Balterio Forissimo 12mm laminate and trying to choose an underlay. It will be laid onto chipboard on ground floor.
I want to ensure the floor won't feel cold and so have looked at the Timbermate Excel which is 0.55 Tog or the Cush n Wood which is 1.0 tog.
The Timbermate seems to get excellent reviews everywhere and is nice and heavy and dense. Although the Cush n Wood specs say it should be warmer it seems to look like thin carpet underlay and I do not want the floor to be a bit spongy.
Anyone recommend one over the other or recommend an alternative?
Our old house had a concrete floor and had underlay similar to Timbermate Excel but cheaper and probably only 0.3Tog. It can be a little cold on feet sometimes so trying to ensure new house won't be like this.
    Thanks
    Richard

You can’t go wrong with Timbermate Excel mate. Best underlay in the market imo

The higher tog will be warmer/better insulator. They are both decent underlays
