Does the floor have a few indentations like where furniture has sunk in? If so I;d definitely say it's the old bitumen/asphalt floor. Councils used to put it down in the 50's and 60's, how old is the property?
You must work in a posh area then if you've never seen it before Definitely bitumen/asphalt then mate.
i think its ashfelt. But laid to thin. Also that is actually the subfloors DPM. So if you have that chunk in your hand then you no longer have a working DPM.
I thinks it's old Ashpalt mate. Laid over that gear alot over the years. If it has cracks in it, it has too come up
Gutted, this is one of those jobs where they won't remove the floor screed no way. I can't wait to tell them that's what should really be done. There was laminate down before thats been there 5 Years with no problems so you can imagine how this will go
Wait till you see these floors on Monday. Van gogh all on ground floor and the lot is bubbling. Will get pics. But it's the asphalt that has gone.
I've put jumpax with a vapour barrier over it. Just have to hope its ok, the laminate that was down before was ok but did smell a bit. Not sure if that's because they had a washing machine leak tho.
