Chasing money is starting to become a pain in my ass, i know it goes with being self employed but some people take the piss. My own jobs I take payment when finished or ask for a bank transfer but my subby work I'm chasing up money all the time Cash flow can be a big problem for small businesses how do you lot deal with this ? One shop I use to work for owed me £2000. Had been a good 6 weeks waiting. Told me they couldn’t pay yet as they opened another shop and they are tight on cash flow. So Monday morning was meant to start 90m2engineered wood job told them I’m not coming in until money’s paid. They had a right moan about how out of order i was and paid it the day. I started job Tuesday for them and didn’t bother working for them anymore. Once or twice I can forgive but when it’s every month it’s a piss take Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If there regularly not paying on time, you need to look for other work. I used to subbie, and it did take some time to find firms who paid decent rates, and also on time, but they are out there.
On my own work I take deposits like youve said but can do that with subby work Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Same with any subbie work, we wouldn’t expect anyone to wait for their money if they did work for us so we were happy to pay a deposit on their fit costs and the balance on the day same the other way around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My own work - I take deposit and remaining balance on completion. Subby work - the shop I do their Lvt's for pay within a week of invoice, sometimes within days. They even phone me and ask why I havnt sent them my invoice yet which makes a change. The big firms Ive subbed & used to sub to pay end of the month so whether I put my bill in the 1st or last week of the month I get paid that month. (Sometimes pay cash aswell...shhhhhhh)
Subbing from a shop .... Its not your job to bankroll them is it ! If its domestic work , chances are , the shops been paid at end of completion. A week in hand is pretty fair. Chasing payments . Nope Couple chances then thats it
One of the companies I do a bit of work for now again don't pay for 60 days and I'm ok with that as long as they tell you up front you can decide if you have the cash flow or not to do the work but I always make price work it ( call it interest for waiting 60 days )
Still chasing one place I work for today so told them I want all my invoices paying or I'm not dining anymore work unroll there paid Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
They paid my invoice that was due yesterday The threat shouldn't have to prompt payment Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
You shouldn’t have to threaten them it should be paid on time You should of done that job for me Nathan cause your money would of be in your bank before your tools were in your van
They know that hence why they know they can take the micky. Its a tough one mate because you need the work so its kinda catch22.
I understand your predicament if it goes wrong with them give me a bell or if you just need a few days to fill in
Yep...plus I like working for them, all local work nice easy jobs doing £150+ a day Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
