Did they test your floor for moisture before any prep went ahead?

No. But he did add water to the mix.

It was soft 3m x 1m but laid it thick.

I know he added water to the mix!
Look, It's soft, it's not good enough to fit over so it needs removing and doing properly. No other way around this. Whether he's being adamant it's OK, it's not - Fact!

You might want to put laminate over that or you may start sinking into it

I did ask him to remove it and he said he wouldn't.

Well we can't keep telling you what should be done for you to come back and say he won't do it....what do you want us to say o_O
Your screed is soft and it needs taking up - or would you rather us tell you its fine and crack on

Well stop him from fitting on top of the soft screed then. Seriously you need to grow some dangleys and tell this fitter you won't allow it until its done correctly....the way it supposed to be done, go JAMES bond on him, not LEE because they're clearly ignoring you.

Where you get this fitter from?
    You paid any deposit/payment?

Aiming for end of the month or before. Decorating the room first.

I thought you said he already laid it?
Assuming you meant the screed which we already knew but least you still have time to sort the issue out!
