I have no idea what to do. We had an extension build 2 rooms knocked in to 1 all making 1 big room, so there were 3 floors which includes the new concrete slab. SLC was poured but the floors were never level after this. Someone else came and levelled it a lot better with more SLC but it’s still got a few higher bits (by a max of 3mm). Now the SLC has cracked in many places and actually sounds hollow in just a couple. Do I get it all taken up and redone? Or can just the loose (hollow sounding) bits be taken up and then redone? Really don’t know who to trust fir advice any more.

If it’s hollow I need to come up. It may all need to come up depending what your planning to install over it

Thank you. We had planned on glued down Karndean but realised that won’t work. What do you think about perhaps some underlay and either click vinyl planks or engineered wood?

Yeah I have. And don’t try and tell me you’ve never had a a screed blow on you or you really have learnt the karndean way.

That all depends if you want to hear crunching under your feet.

Take it all up is the best way I'm sure it will come up very easily

What's happend is either it hasn't been primed or primed incorrectly
Or the compression strength of the screed on top was incompatible with the one below

Don’t bother with the clic unless you keep your room within a 5 degree sustained temperature and you have no direct daylight touching the floor. It’s naff

In the areas that’s it sounds hollow it is actually coming off as dust.

I'd be ringing who ever laid the second screed and the first and tell them that its failed and not to standard and they should come and take it up and give you your money back
