I was talking to a floorlayer yesterday who swears by taking off skirtings when laying LVTs.He said its easier and quicker to fit.Does anyone else do it this way.
If fitted corectly why would you need to take the skirtings off? if not cut in properley you will have a gap against skirting but if you take the skirtings off wouldn't you need to scribe the skirting into new floor or you would have a gap under skirting in some places so makes sense to me anyway to just cut in neatly
That seems like more work to me, remove skirts, damage plaster, refit skirts, paint etc! There is no need to remove the skirts.
Agreed, its sounds like way too much hassle to take skirts off If fitted correctly you dont need em off
The guy fits hardwood floor the same way and he doesnt fit carpets but personally i wouldnt dare upset the customer (not).
If possible i will remove the skirts for wooden floors as i think it looks alot better than having beading. But this something you need to talk about while priceing the job. But removing skirts to fit vinyl is a bit ott.
Never even crosses my mind to remove skirting for lvts!! way over the top,and as stated,if installed correctly it looks spot on butted up to skirtings etc.
I wouldn't take skirtings off for lvt, you would almost definatly have to scribe them to refit. I do sometimes undercut the door frames out tho . Any1 else do that?
