Hello. Floor is in my mums house. It was laid as a wet room when bath was removed due to mobility issues. Radiator was removed and electric underfloor heating was laid. The floor is an anti slip vinyl and a small brown mark had appeared. Heat Mat is guaranteed but they refuse to do anything as the controller is not theirs. Mum is now left with this discolouration on the floor. Is there anything we can do to get rid of the marks or is she looking at renewing the vinyl.

Looks like heat has discoulured the safety floor.

    Possible reasons:

Underfloor heating too hot for the safety floor

    or

Underfloor heating not buried in deep enough screed before the safety floor has been fitted

    or

Combination of both of the above.

It can't be cleaned off unfortunately.

Thank you for that. I think we will replace with new flooring. I take it the old mar and screed will need to be completely lifted back to old flooring? Trying to keep disruption to a minimum for mum.

According to the controller it shouldn’t have been above 28C. The camera has really picked up the damage. It doesn’t look as bad to the naked eye. It’s all switched off but I’m just wondering how much of a fire risk it was.

Maybe you just need to remove the vinyl, get another good coat of levelling compound over the top. The matting should be 10mm below the floorcovering
