Looking for advice on earthworks lvt it’s been down a year in a new build house and has recently been showing gaps between the planks, all in different places. This was laid in kitchen, hall and bathrooms the main problem is the kitchen and odd ones in ensuite, any ideas why this would happen?
We need more info finch What is the subfloor What temp is house normally kept? South facing windows etc? What adhesives were used As much info as u can get helps us help you
The house is a year old, subfloor is concrete no plywood, I don’t know what adhesive was used, the kitchen is south facing on one side with patio doors and a window, window on front is east. We have sofas in there one Is by the patio doors and under it are some of the biggest gaps. Temperature sits about 21 degrees with heating on, it’s a warm house in general without heating on, we have this flooring in our ensuite and there is a couple of gaps there as well, the hallway, utility, downstairs toilet and bathroom seems ok.
It was screeded by the builders who built the house and then he screeded it and I am sure he put a dpm down, why would it be wrong adhesive?
Why alarm bells and yes builders screeded with s self leveller, it was on a new build developments and the guy who fitted it screeded again and yes south facing and gaps on the length
Did the builder prime the floor (not with PVA)? Was the screed the builder put down fully bonded the subfloor? Was the screed the builder put down water base or latex and what was the compressive strength of it ? Was the compression strength of the screed the floorlayer put down over it a compatible compressive strength to the first screed ? Did the floorlayer say he fully accepted responsibility for the subfloor prepperation that the builder carried out ? (Because he has) Who spect the job ? Did anyone carry out a moisture test in RH% Has anyone applied a liquid dpm at any stage ? What adhesive was used ?
Well well well...... when I hear the words the builders screeded the floor I tend to head for the door......... there’s so much that could be wrong, chances are incorrect glue but tbh rip the lot up back the the concrete and do a moisture test it will be damp and do it properly
