I've started to renovate an old dining room and took up the old stick on tiles with a heat gun which has now left a very sticky adhesive all over and in the gaps off the floorboards. I wanted to sand the floorboards, then stain and finish them. Would it be possible to sand this adhesive off with belt or drum sander? Or would I have to use a chemical and scraper? I have already tried with the heat gun and scraper with not much success. Would really appreciate someone advic

    Thanks,
    Rory

A belt sander with possibly 40 grit belt should remove it, the edges are better scraped before using a rotary sander as it tends to just heat it up and clog the paper

Use a pull type scraper rather than a push type
