Has anyone used underlay with felt back carpet? And are there any benefits in doing so?

I realise it's normally suggested that felt back carpets don't need underlay but do they still offer the same comfort and has anyone ever used underlay to offer more comfort? Cheers, Matt

I see but many people say you don't need it. saying it may be too soft underfoot and too thick for grippers

Is that because it helps them sell it?

I rarely do felt back but if I do it's for a tight ass landlord that wants cheap cheap.
I have fitted underlay under felt though a long time ago only because the secondary backing version wasn't in stock and the customer wanted it a.s.a......yesterday

Barely ever sell any, but if I do I usually 9 times out of 10 use underlay just wish microplast gripper was easier to get hold of.
