Recently starting working for a carpet fitter looking to gain experience to progress into a qualified fitter!

Does anyone have a rough guide on how I should tackle this regarding gaining exp and what stages to I should think about taking courses etc?

Hello mate. The key is getting in with a firm that do quality work not shed loads of work. Or meter munching. Then get on some courses when you get the money. Floorskills is quality for training

Does take some time to master the cutting in and stretching. Practice area is a good idea. Then doing little carpets for friends or at home to practice is a good first step.

The guy I learnt with got me taking all the waste down first then on to dropping corners in and dropping round corners. Had a few dropped the wrong way round the corner oops. Make sure you always have a seaming iron when you start lol!!

Hi, fita have a place in Scotland, that might be closer for you, worth doing a basic course, everything else you'll pick up along the way.l wasn't aloud to start cutting carpet until i was about 11,started on refits, the idea being it didn't fit to start with
