    Hi all,

Wonder if anyone can help here as we're currently left between the installer and the manufacturer

We have an ardex screed - completely level
We have a 15mm engineered t&g board from Hakwood
However our board is extremely loose fitting, slots very freely together
The groove is 4.5mm and the tongue is 4.1mm
Our installer has laid some of the floor only to discover squeaks in many parts of it already - he is using ardex 480ms w/1000g/msq trowel.
We have reverted to manufacturers who 'advises' that the .4mm is within tolerance and that a fully glued down floor like ours shouldn't squeak if it is installed properly. All other installers we've talked to have advised that the board appears to be too loose fitting?
Anyone know What are the manufacturing tolerances of this kind of thing? Is our installer not doing something right?

    Hi Merit,

The installer has replied and said he used a B10 trowel

    Hi Tarkett

    Yes they used

UZIN PE 404 in the floor prep

I note no one seems to be interested so far with the loose fitting boards!

If the boards are full bonded the loose headers shouldn’t matter. If you were floating it or nailing it maybe it would squeak bit fully bonded should be solid. If I was worried about the t and g you could of applied pva around the t and g also. Floor may not be flat. Boards may be bowed. The trowel size is Correct but it sounds like it hasn’t bonded properly.

How many m2 have you had installed? Is there a good expansion gap. How many tubs of adhesive were used

It's highly unlikely, but worth checking, are the back of the boards clean, i had one that wouldn't bond, then i realised the back of the boards had been oiled aswell as the surface

    Hi Merit,
From our research today it appears this is issue and a (to simplify) ticker application of glue is required.
He was using a B10/1000mg sm application previously.

The screed is Ardex A35 cement and sand screed

However there was had a board already laid on this screed - that board was removed ad the top of the screed was redone with

    UZIN-PE 404 Two Coat Surface-Applied Resin - Gritted
NC 196 fibre reinforced leveling compound
