I have a 900 sq ft house with a wooden floor, built in the 1940s.
I hired someone to install ceramic tiles about 20 years ago, but now many of them are loose and breaking.
I called a national remodeling company and asked for their advice on what to do.
They came out and inspected my floor and informed me that the person who installed the ceramic tile did not do it correctly, which is why the tiles are loose and breaking.
They recommended removing all the ceramic tiles, cleaning the floor, and installing vinyl flooring planks.
They want $26,000 to do this.

I looked at vinyl flooring planks at HomeDepot and decided to purchase from them because it is much cheaper.

The national remodeling company claims that its products are superior to others and come with a lifetime guarantee. If any plank gets damaged, scratched, or fades, they will replace it, but the customer will have to pay for labor costs. According to the company, their product looks and feels just like real wood.

I am unsure if they are deceiving me or not.

    What is your opinion?

Although they provided vinyl plank samples, I didn't catch the product names.

They claimed that all contractors are competitive; some bids will be higher, while others will be lower.
Field inspectors are sent to ensure the workers are doing it right. However, if I hired an individual contractor, no one would overlook their work.

    1. I can't tell if they are deceiving meā€”that is, an individual contractor would do just as good work for half the price.
    2. I'm wondering if I should use ceramic tile that looks like wood instead of vinyl planks.
