Joists causing hump over beam

    The joists in my house extend beyond center beam by about a foot and have caused a couple of humps. I need to cut these back from the basement and would appreciate it if anyone can recommend the best way to do this without damaging the other joists.

    Yes stateside. You can see in the pic that the extended beam has risen 1/4 inch or so. I’ll try to load the pic but the file is too large.

    I want to cut back the excess hoist which in turn should allow the floor to settle and this remove the raised area. I would like to know the best way to do this so as not to damage the other joist.

    Is the flooring nailed into the joist? Why do you need to do it from below? Can’t you lift the floor and plane down the joist?

    There is hardwood installed over the sub floor.
