If the cracked part is removed & the bottom layer is sound & solid then yes its possible & should be OK as you said the first layer looked fine ! They'll find out how much has to be removed when they start lifting it & see how much is loose Still doesn't explain why its cracked so badly just in that area ?
Screedmaster speed is id hazard a guess is a cheap knock off of fasttrack 30, fast track goes up to 10mm deep any deeper and id use something different or at least throw chippings in with it, so saying that id say its safe to assume the screed master speed shouldnt be thicker than 10mm either, a 14mm low spot build up could stretch upto say 15mm when putting it down 50% more than it should, the rapid drying tech will make it dry out very fast and cause it to crack as its too deep, probably a higher compression strength as well which is pulling it up off the floor as it will be circa 10nmm higher than the screedmaster 2 which will only get to about 28nmm after 30 days (id of said 25nmm max myself) Lesson to be learned is dont use a higher strength latex over a lower strength one
Yeh it is a cheaper alternative to fast track 30 ! I reckon that's probably exactly what's happens PF ! Im guna have a look for the tech sheets !
not on the website! was looking for them myself so all guess work at the moment from myself, occams razor and all that.
No tech tech sheet available for speed yet according to there webpage but I can't see it going deeper than 10mm ?
Has anyone noticed that where it's cracked and dried out to quick there is also a window in that area?
Oh yes the house builder must have place the window there so you can see the floor crack from outside !
Hi all, karndean rep popping up this afternoon. Just been told tiles still in place were vinyl tiles and initial screed placed on top , is this suitable?
Wont get a proper bond on top of the vinyl (council) tiles, your subfloor is only as strong as whats underneath it, hence why you always go back down to the slab.
It is mate but Karndean will always come out if you ask them to assess a job & hopefully in this case put the shops & installer to rights !
