From what ive seen today just because there approved fitters or karndean design showroom doesn't mean they know ****e about fitting a floor[/QUOTE] Agree mate I was chatting to a Karndean approved fitter the other week who fitts for a big account round my way & he actually new f all ?
Your asking for trouble when saying your an 'approved retailer' fitters come and go at the end of the day.....the guys that were first trained and approved by karndean may not even work their anymore!! It's better that a manufacture says here's a list of retailers that have our product and here's a list of accredited approved installers!
And at least those fitters who are approved or accredited will get behind the brand. Sick of crap fitters.
I always make a point of letting folk know I'm approved etc + you can't miss it on my clothing branding lol
Asbestos may be present in tiles up to 1999. Thats when it was banned. Don't panic though. It's white asbestos . Apparently some scientists believe white asbestos fibres can be coughed up out of the lungs where as blue and brown fibres act like fish hooks and stick to the lungs.
This is the point I was trying to make over the weekend re. Post: check out new fitters directory. If this Floorlayer is accredited and approved it won't shock me cause I see it quite often. Just coz they have all the qualifications doesn't mean they are of excellent standard. A lot just see £££ and crash the jobs in not bothered about quality. I mean the fact he has gone over thermos is inexcusable .poor poor standards
I'd be shocked if he is accredited. I'm sure Matt would be too. I'll agree with you that he might have gone on karndeans/Amtico courses but that's a certificate of attendance, not a certificate to say you can install at a high standard. I see approved fitters work a lot and it wouldn't shock me either. That's why I go to Floorskills, to learn how to do things right. Have you gone on any training courses?
Ok here goes,, Karndean rep came out. Said cracks were unacceptable but didn't comment about the fact the screed is on top of vinyl tiles. He said he'd have to talk to the fitter about that. He said digging up the lot would mean having to cement the base and that could take weeks to dry in readiness for starting again.... I do have a builder friend who reckons he could level the site over 2 days. The cracking is just in one area & the shop owner (shop is approved karndean retailer) is now contacting Bostik to see what they have to say. They're looking at digging up just the bad area & possibly patching it up!,,,,,, I'm just waiting for you all now to say that's a bad idea!!!! Really fed up..., can't afford to wait weeks as this is driving me mad :-(
I've got NVQs level 1,2&3. Been on Linooleum course and various other day courses . Try and keep upto date with screeds and addys with reps and companies. (Some more helpful than others) Been planning to do the karndean course for years but haven't got round to it. No excuse. I will prob do floorskills LVT instead of karndean now anyway.based on you lads thoughts and the fact that karndean isn't the only LVT I fit anymore
Yep his name is John Alcock his number is 07740278652 or failing that laybond screed rep Steve 07767273502
Uv are you sure? I heard he was just about to retire too. That's terrible news , can't believe it. Gutted. He was a nice fella .
That's shocking news. I spoke to him a few months back. Always seen him in Jedens supplies. Gutted. RIP
