Please can someone offer me advice as driving myself crazy. Got new laminate fitted in November and we recently got a chip I firstly used wax to fix the hole but then tried several things to clean the wax off! Long story short I’m left with a shiny patch around the chip! I can live with the chip but not the shiny patch! I don’t know if it’s the lacquer or something that’s come off? It’s very obvious in daylight and in the most obvious place in the hallway/kitchen. It’s a Matt floor. Please can someone offer some advice? Can I use something to get rid of this shine? It doesn’t appear to be coming off with anything (hot water, steam, vinegar, alcohol) so it’s like I need to cover it? Please help.
Yes I do! I contacted the original joiner who laid the floor and he said it couldn’t be done as too risky to damage other boards??
I also asked him if we could lift up a few from the skirting boards but he said the way it was laid won’t allow that as no nearby points to lift up etc. I was hoping could just cut out the one board but he said it can’t be done…
Just the one board then hmm, just the one board? Just to confirm it’s laminate click flooring (howdens)
Yes just the one board can be replaced without taking it up. Yes a floor layer will be what you need not a joiner
In our repair kit there’s two types of pad to buff the finish of the floor. One shines the finish and one dulls it depending on the level of sheen.
On a lot of laminate you can split the floor by knocking it into the expansion gap, replace the board, then knock it back together
I’m talking about replacing one board without touching any others or knocking anything into the expansion.
Yea pretty much, certain cuts to remove without touching other boards & being able to get the locking system undone and the new piece to go in you need to modify the locking system on two sides and run a small bead of glue down them
