i'm still in the early planning stages of giving my tired kitchen a cheap make-over until i've saved enough to completely re-fit (2/3 years away).

Is it a good idea to lay another layer of lino / vinyl over my existing lino or will i need to remove the old stuff and all the sticky /lumpy adhesive underneath ?

    any suggestions welcome.

old floorcoverings should be removed and the correct subfloor prep is needed.

There are textured/felt backed vinyls around, providing the floor is sound, i.e thermo tiles on conc, fully adhered vinyl you can lay over the top, without any chemical reaction. There is a barrier paste,an Uzin product, which you can spread on the existing adhered covering that enables you to lay over aswell, but you cant really beat uplifting and preparing the floor properly
