Hi I need to lay carpet and underlay suitable for underfloor heating. It needs to be stretch fitted with glued gripper rods. There are 5 bedrooms and a landing in total with 9 thresholds meeting tiles ( 4 ensuite). Total carpet requirement 155m2 plus underlay. It's a wool Berber style. The house is in French Alps, I have renovated the building and have now been requested to arrange the supply and fitting of the carpets. I will source carpet from UK plus additional materials where required. I need a recommendation for a carpet fitter / team who would be prepared to come out to France, fully expensed, late August / early September. Great opportunity to combine holiday with work whilst your here. Possibility to glue grip rods in advance if preferred to aid curing. Cheers Rob
That’s Very tempting. But Why not use a local French firm ? Its very rare but thinking if any carpets needed a restrech a month after fitting you would struggle getting fitters all the way back to the French alps. Also who’s planned the job is there’s joins/ heatseam needed ? Something I’d definitely would avoid on a wool Berber
. Well I would agree, I've used local suppliers wherever I can, but I don't want the carpet glued down, that's all local companies are prepared to do, plus they have quoted me the equivalent of £21/m for something that I can buy in UK for £10/m. Plus the last time I purchased a carpet locally and had it fitted, a 55dsqm apartment with 4 rooms and zero furniture took 3 days and cost more than double the price of a similar flat in London. So my experience with carpet in France dictates I look elsewhere. I tried...but it was not viable
Makes sense what you are saying to some degree and again very tempting of course would be to most people I’d of said..? But, do you really save money after you’ve paid all expenses for a fitter and his mate? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
