    Hi

just had a stair carpet fitted at a cost of £540 plus VAT and one week later have just noticed that it looks ill fitting at the sides.
I’ve contacted the fitter, who was initially said fitting was fine but now is saying the reason it looks like this is because the stairs are warped and because of this, we should have opted for a twist pile carpet. He is saying he initially did advise of this. Of course, this is not true, actually the opposite and he recommended the range. he still maintains the fitting is of good standard and we are being a bit over the top but as goodwill, he has offered to change to a twist pile at cost price.

keen on someone else’s thoughts.. . Is this a good fit?

fitter was an independent found on a popular tradesman site.

Oh dear, no that isn't well fitted. Looks short and poorly stretched from the photos.

That’s just shite fitting...... he’s cut it to narrowest point, yes stairs might be out but cut it a big bigger and turn or tuck gently that’s been hacked in

Yep just needed to cut it wider and crimp the sides before fitting or take a little more time trimming it in

Warped stringers are normal, most older houses are the same to some extent, any fitter, even with relatively short experience, would know treads are likely to be wider at the front
