well, new kitchen fitted so i need a new floorcovering. Tucker pops in and i tell him of my plans. He laughs and goes to leave, he then realises im being serious. So im thinking of a floor going around in circles! like so Yes it will be alot of work, and yes i can do it! (well i hope i can LOL) Very different and something no one has done before in karndean/lvt tile. I could do this in real wood pretty easy but the costs would be daft and the time also needed so what do you think? have i lost the plot with this mad design or should i get on with fitting it?
I'd love to know how you would do this matt, whether it was lvt or wood. I've never had to form circles or curves within patterns before, done it with commercial vinyl when the patterns have been pre made but that's a piece of cake..
The floorboards look spot on mate, figuered i should get some wear out of the floorboards before i fit my ne floorcovering! You know how it is mate, you can never be bothered to do your own floor. Also i have decided to go for something simple. Going to have karndeam on a 45 with maybe a 1 strip boarder with maybe a tramline. Might make it a little more intresting by having bent corners rather than square. Still that means alot of work . But i dont think i have ever seen anyone bend 5"of plank around bends before so should look the bollox!
I'm guessing steam is used to soften the wood then some sort of mandrel machine physically bends it...seems long winded, as I'd personally Kerf cut the inside and then slowly bend the wood. What say you?
Karndean is a vinyl tile with a photograph of wood under the surface Tosseef, I have seen Matt and Tucker bending this stuff to form a curve. Very impressive!
