Just make sure to get a good alu blade with plenty of teeth, clamp it making sure its gripped as close to the cut as possible and wear goggles. Getting shards of hot alu in your eye isn't fun.
Door Bars and matt well bars I cut by hand with a quick run over with a file I don't like using chop saws for bars after a had one snag the bar while cutting a 45 angle and kick up into the blade scared the crap out of me glad saw had a good break
Lol, same thing happened to a mate of mine but the piece he cut off went through a window 3m x 3m, I always pull down and release trigger and wait for the blade to stop before lifting it, if as you say it snags it will send it flying somewhere....
I use this one which holds the metal firm for cutting. http://www.tilingsupplies.co.uk/quansol-mitre-system
Having made frames for many years its the right blade that counts and using WD40 on it before the cut, keeping steady constant preasure blade should have a minimum of 120 teeth, problem is often fear of the saw causes people to flinch when cutting.. http://www.carpetfittersshoponline.co.uk/standard-matwell-frames-60-p.asp rugrat
I got it from the company in the link. You do wear out the black guide inserts in it but they are replaceable.
