    Hi there.
My name is Liz, and I'm not a carpet fitter but have just had my ground floor laid with laminate and stairs with carpet.
I have a bathroom extension to the back of my house, which is at a slightly lower level than my house. There is an area between that needs to have access as it holds the stopcock and main pipes so there is no laminate. Previous to the fitting it was a tongue and groove structure using boards that are normally used in lofts. Apart from the aesthetic look and the fact that it was falling apart we decided we couldn't laminate it but would put another board in.
After the palaver of making a ply board by hand (had to make to an inch thick myself or pay fortune for a ready made one) I decided to add a remnant of stair carpet to the top so it didn't get dirty, and it was warm in winter. (Can't send photos they are too large).
I stuck the carpet to the ply board with waterproof pva and it's stuck well however I didn't take it over the end lip and so the edge is fraying. I didn't leave a gap so I could fit a gripper rod as I didn't think about it (first time doing this) so I need some advice on what to use on the end to prevent further fraying. I'd like to use an aluminium end to tidy it up but at this stage I'd rather just stop the fraying.
    Thanks
