Hi Guys, I am installing UFH but once the wood floor goes down, it's going to raise the floor height by around 25mm if I install over the existing subfloor. So, I'd like to reduce the subfloor by 25mm to compensate.

The subfloor is 20mm chipboard on 50mm battens fixed to a concrete solumn. The chipboard is shot in several places so it needs ripped out anyway and the existing battens can be salvaged and ripped down to reduce the height difference.

Rather than go with new chipboard, can I get away with 12mm cdx sheathing, or is this cutting things a bit fine?

The reason I'm considering the CDX is that our local builders merchant has an offer on CDX which works out at half the price of chipboard.

Is it structural ? Are you installing wet ufh system or electric, I spec uniboards or multitop boards 4mm usually over the xps panels, they are 4mm and can be adhered down with ms adhesive, far better for heat output than ply www.ufh-store.com have them
