My sister in law has just had an engineered parquet wood floor installed, the floorlayer has stuck it direct to the asphalt he has assured her it did not need screeding or any prep as the glue alone is fine for any minor undulations, is this true or has she just been fobbed off ?

I wouldn’t bond a real wood to asphalt it’s not mechanically strong enough, you want a real wood over asphalt you go with a click system and float it.
