Hi all, I have no experience with flooring. My downstairs floor is concrete, I'm having underfloor heating installed by a company that cuts channels into the concrete. This is better than the overlay system as it doesn't add any height and the concrete is a good thermal mass. There is one room that is 100mm of polystyrene with boards on top. The plan here is to replace the 100mm insulation with 50mm (or something close to it) and do traditional UFH with screed over the top. This room is roughly 12m^2 which is about 0.6m^3 of screed at 50mm thickness. The minimum order of screed is 1m^3, so the plan is to use the rest to fill in the channels and level the existing concrete. This will add roughly 10mm to the existing concrete floor.

My question is, is it ok to put such a thin layer of screed? I've seen things mention SBR bond, which one would you recommend? A portion of the existing floor is covered with tile, how would remove the tile adhesive?

The guy that is sorting out my whole heating system is dealing with the secondary company that cuts the channels and I'm in the UK.

    Thanks

Hey! Your plan sounds solid. A 10mm layer of screed should be fine with a good bonding agent like SBR. For removing tile adhesive, a scraper or a bit of elbow grease with a chisel usually does the trick. Good luck!
