just moved into a new house and im thinking the tiles may be asbestos which are in good condition except for around the edges/skirting where they are easily lifting up. especially near the doors

im wondering if putting down some solid gold underlay (gold side down) making sure to remove skirtings and run it up the wall will be enough to encapsulate and provide a damp proof layer before laying laminate

or will i have to use something like ardex na around the edges and then a seperate dpm. id prefer not to have to remove the tiles.

and my other questions is does anyone have any experience of using foam rope/backer rod 10mm around the edges and leaving it there instead of using spacers so that in certain places i can just tuck the laminate under skirting without removing it

You should be ok going over the tiles. Would be better to uplift them all.

Ardex NA screed & Ardex DPM1c but not always needed with laminate

Usually if they do contain asbestos its very low amounts Uplift and get rid if possible Get them tested It doesn't cost alot
