I’ve decided I’m going to rack my van out while I’m off work. Question for those that have done it... I’m going for a false floor rather than side racks as I need to angle 4ms to get them in. I was planning to use 18mm MDF for the uprights with some supporting batons and a 12mm structural ply top to sit all the carpets on. Do you think that’s strong enough? I know the 18mm will work as used that before but not sure on the ply. The spacing between uprights won’t be much. Probably 5 across the width but I don’t want it snapping and burying all my tools the first speed bump I hit!
Make sure you fix it to the ply floor. Or it jumps up and down every time you go over a bump lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I put metal bars across mine. I’m sure the pictures are on here somewhere. Would of been 10 years ago.
You can. Annoyingly I do need to angle them though so can’t load the van right up. That said I only do domestic so generally not a problem.
No worries. It’s a decent van and I got it cheap. Longer term I’d like a VW crafter LWB similar so I can get a 4m in and keep the seats.
