Hi all. Some general advice required please. I’m restoring an old property which has solid oak floorboards in several of the rooms, including upstairs. We’ve lifted the downstairs boards so we can insulate and now plan to use some of the upstairs boards to fill in the gaps and run into a small extension I’ve built. What’s the best way to refinish it all? Should I just give it some basic attention and then stick it down and leave the majority of refinishing to be done once down? Or, pre finish each board to a good standard before laying? Feels like option 1 might be quicker!
Option one all day long unless you have a lot of space and time on your hands and want rooms you cant use till the floors are down , then you have to protect the floors till other work is done , saying that we have restored many an old floor after the plumbers and sparks(terrorists with tools) have finished and boarded over till jobs complete
