I have a 1960s bungalow with traditional herringbone parquet flooring. It is in good condition and glued in place with bitumen. The bitumen is also the damp proof course. I am incorporating part of the hall into the dining room. I have removed most of the bitumen from the blocks and the floor in the hall and will line the blocks up with the existing blocks in the dining room. How do I fix the blocks down without completely removing the bitumen from the floor?

We use a high temperature grade bitumen/rubber adhesive for application by dipping. It is made by F Ball and called F21 - available on line from many UK suppliers. You may find the article on our website helpful: http://www.floorfixer.co.uk/missing
