    Hi guys
got a LVT job coming up , and the floor is a mixture of floorboards and one area ceramic tiles, I was planning on plying up to tiles then screeding over the whole floor it's about 40 sq a hall kitchen and a room , I was going to use my compressor stapler to fix ply , but phoned fballs and they said I must screw the 6 mm ply as the when the screed drys it will shrink slightly and could pull the ply up so .......
1 would you agrees with that
2 if so is there a good value auto feed screw gun you can recommend ! ( I did phone the spotnails rep and he said there taking one on at £ 260 plus vat

Nailing it would be fine as long as you used the right depth of nail for the ply, I use my coil nailer to nail ply before flex screeding over the top and never had a problem.

I've got a senco auto feeder it's spot on. Yeah kind of agree because if staples go through ply a bit too much , the compressive strength of flex screed like balls 700 is high so It could pull it up ply easily. Better to screw ply anyway mate I never use staples. May be slower using screws but it's the better method. If you get an auto feeder they are quite just as fast as using a stapler anyway.

I would prefer to nail it because I can attach to compressor , but don't want problems , do you use that method a lot ?
and what nail depth for 6 mm ply ?

if you have min 18mm sub then either 19 or 22mm mate
    I normally use 19mm for 6mm ply and 22 for 9

I notice some screw guns use a minimum 25 mm screw

Yeah that's the only prob with them , I can't seem to find a 20mm screw for feeder.

to be perfectly honest, on that size of a job i'd nail it
screwing it, even with a gun will take longer.
Touch wood, ive never had a prob nailing before a flexi goes on top

Do you agree with the screed pulling up the staples ?

Yep, but depends on what gauge staple used. Woodflooring has way more strength than a screed compound drying and we use ring shanks to hold plywood down . Main problem is the quality of the plywood tho
