Hi, can anyone let me know the best screws (size) for fixing 5.5mm to existing floor boards?
    Thanks

I use Reisser Cutter screws 3.5 x 20. The heads have little ribs underneath which allow heads to be counter sunk. Only screw small areas. Large areas I use a Coil nailer with 19mm plastic collated ringshanks.

Coil nailer here too although I use it everywhere as I'm too lazy to screw it down.

Thanks for the replies. What would a half decent coil nailer cost roughly? Not looking for anywhere near top of the range, just one for use now and again..

id just get a spotnailer if its now and then much cheaper, my spotnails kit cost £600 with a box of coil nails, best money ive ever spent though.

As it's only 4 sheets, use the screws as suggested by DM Flooring and keep saving up.....
You can find some good tools and prices here www.tradediscountshop.co.uk

Thanks for your reply MJ.., Ill get some of the screws ordered... As I said, quite a few tools to get, next big outlay will be the guillotine., have been quoted £770 for a Gundlach H24. After a quick search on ebay, I couldnt find any to compare prices. (Im guessing its worth getting?)

Personally I'd be spending my £770 on a nailer set up rather than a gilly. You can fit plenty of flooring without a guillotine. Once you have more fitting experience and you want to start creating bespoke designs for your customers then the guillotine comes in handy for lots of repeat cuts. Bread and butter fitting tools come first fella :)
