Hi all, I'm looking self levelling my floor which is currently half Bitumen and half screed, i was looking at using Ardex self levelling my understanding is you don't have to prep the Bitumen and depending on the Screed it may or may not need treating prior, if its normal sand/cement your fine but if Anhydrate / calcium sulphate it would need prepping, I'm not familiar with screed types, I'm trying to confirm what was used from my builder.

I'm lead to believe Ardex is a good product and with having two different floor types, my question is if I don't confirm the floor screed could i just prep it anyway. is there better products and should i be prepping both regardless, apart from cleaning prior self levelling.

Contacted Ardex they have suggested a DPM 1CR & Arditex NA, so still no primer but now the DPM, half the floor is a new extension and the old bitumen has no issues is the DPM really needed?

How old is the part of the house where the bitumen is? If its before 70s then you wont have a dpm. The use of bitumen with your old floor covering is usually the only form of dpm. Im guessing that’s old and damaged now?

Test the floor. If its reading dry you could use a underlay with built in dpm.
If there’s no mechanical dpm you should really put down a dpm1c
Level with ardex na no primer

Very low reading with a moisture detector, no issues
