Should I move into Laminate?

Hi. I’m a 25 year served carpet & vinyl fitter. Board with carpet and fed up with the pay. Laminate appeals to me…much better pay and not as hard work. I don’t have much experience but have done a Floor Skills course, and watching lots of videos.

Thoughts and advice appreciated?

 

Are you up to scratch in LVT's??

I don't mind laminate but hate fitting beading, boring as hell!

 

Become a top rated fitter in carpet and the money is good.
But laminate is a good earner as well.

 

Been thinking of LVT also. Not done much.

My carpet fitter gets £7m2 on Average and my laminate fitter at least £12m2

join the NICF. Fit to a high standard. Do the jobs no one else can do. Work for the right shops.

 

As Daz said, you could try and expand on what you already know, naturals,stair runners and possibly border work, the majority of fitters aren't doing it,so you can charge decent money and get more satisfaction, rather than just yet another grey Saxony
