    Hi
Having the Kitchen/dining area done in either Amtico or Karndean, what do you like best? also, I can remove the skirtings as I like a 'perfect finish, do you think I'm going over the top?

    Six and two threes...
Watch out for shadow lines when skirts put back on if the floor isn't 100% flat and level, I prefer to screed with skirts on.

    Are you having borders?

Surely, it will be neater with the new skirtings sat on the flooring. I will be having borders, but again quite easy to get that the right distance from skirting a bit like borders round unit plinths when removed?

You better hope your builder put a flat floor down for you then. Most flooring companies will smooth the subfloor with a 3mm latex. If that subfloors not flat you will get gaps under the skirting.

Plus, your walls will have to be 90° or less to the floor, unless you want to start altering the bottom of the skirts or back filling with caulk

Why the sarcasm? I was just asking you 'experts' opinion on my idea of fitting new skirting and sitting it on the flooring, obviously, I won't use a crap cutter, I will seek out a good fitter.
The floor will be flat, with screwed down and glued Marine Ply.

You asked for our opinion but you already decided what you going to do anyway by questioning what advice you got.
You say it will be flat and we (the fitter who come up against this nearly everyday) are telling you that's not always the case!

Oh dear, I have not decided, that is why I am asking you lot, if the consensus is don't do it, I won't do it.

Yeah, don't do it. It can be cut direct to the skirting and you'll have a much better finish. Skirting on top only really works for floating installations.

Thank you, will be easier also to paint/stain the new skirting.

Do you even know what skirting it ?

  15. Cutting directly to the skirting will be proper decision.

also mentioned marine ply, best use fg1 or sp101 otherwise warranties are void.
