I need a suggestions with a floor problem I have been having
My engineered wood floor (Pergo) gets quickly covered with fine fine dust specs. It has been installed on a basement with a plastic barrier for about 6 years.
Recently I have seen these particles that my vacuum does not seem to pick up even though it is a good one A swiffer or damp mop do not pick it up either
I see little fibers coming out from the sides of the planks occasionally.
I do not think this is ordinary household dust. the particles are very small white and seem to be floating. I invested in an air purifier but it does not seem to make a significant difference.
I was wondering if anyone has have encountered this situation before nor do I know who to contact to have a look at this.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated

You would need to send a pic or two , but it has all the earmarks of White Mold it likes cool damp conditions if its laid on a plastic membrane the floor could sweat and if ventilation is poor it will thrive , stagnant air contributes to mold growth, it will look like thin threads of cotton or a powdery look try not touch it without gloves
If it is white mold it is a serious health risk and needs dealing with asap , test the floor with a moisture meter or get it tested , keep humidity to 60% make sure the room is well vented ...wear gloves and a mask good dehumidifiers do help with humidity , try limit your time in the room if possible till a professional has had a look

I agree, most likely it's mold. Best to not wait and consult with a specialist in mold remediation
