So one of the screeds now says you can go straight on top of "lino, rubber and vinyl"

We all know what British Standards say about that but manufacturers instructions over rule British Standards so what would happen if the floor failed?

Would the fitter be at fault or the screed manufacturer if it went to court?

Pretty sure the manufacturer would have some get out clause. They normally do !!

Wouldnt chance it, can guarantee it would come back on top of the fitter regardless

There are so many causes for a screed failing it would be almost impossible to prove

depends on why it failed. I can 99% guarranty you that if it did fail then it would not be a product issue but some thing with the lino etc your going over.

You as a floor-layer take responsability for what ever you cover over. You as a floor-layer are accepting that what ever your going over is sound, clean, dry etc and is suitable for what ever product your using to bond to it.
