    Hello everyone.
I am in a process of laying new laminate flooring (DIY) on a wooden subfloor on a first floor of the house. Level of the subfloor is quite good but I have found very old fireplace tiles under the carpet (photo attached). They seem to be very old and I have no idea how they were laying them in the past - I lifted one of them and it looks like the area with tiles is in general thicker/deeper than the subfloor planks (there is a thick glue layer underneath)
My underlay is 5mm thick (extruded polystyrene) and thought that I will just lay it around the tiles and on top of them just put simple foam underlay to create level (it’s not perfect and the laminate is minimally bulky over the tiles). However, I bagan to have doubts recently and have a question. Can it be dangerous to lay laminate flooring over those tiles? Is there any risk of this to collapse and end up in my neighbours kitchen downstairs ?
Thanks a lot for your responses.

Be fine to go over. Or take the tiles up and level the floor flat to the floorboards

    Thanks.
What would be the best to use when it comes to filling the hole after the tiles?
