I have had a carpet fitted recently which I know is fitted incorrectly as not only can I see the trim but part of the kitchen floor from inside my living room when the kitchen door is shut. After initially not acknowledging their mistake they have come back and said they will piece it up to the correct level, fit a new plate and give me a 5% refund, as you can imagine I am not happy I paid good money for the carpet which they fitted themselves. I believe that they should take this carpet out and start again and do the job right. Why should I live with a pieced up carpet due to their schoolboy error
My issue is that the carpet should reach the door. The kitchen flooring shouldn’t be visible in the living room
It may be possible to rectify with a power stretcher, depending on other doorways, etc,at worst, the plate should have reached the door, if there was any reason why it couldn't, it should have been pointed out to you
Correct, the carpet should fit to under the door. If the Kitchen floor was only recently fitted, what was fitted before? In the Hallway, was the original carpet fitted to the same place as the new carpet has been? When did you notice the carpet was short of the doorway?
For me a doortrim should be under the door when it’s shut. My pet hate is seeing a trim in the wrong place. Tell them you want a new carpet.
You are right why should you live with a pieced-up carpet due to their schoolboy error. However, any problem has to be solved in the first place. Otherwise, it becomes more.
