I normally just used kiln dreid sand if to bulk up over the recommended depth by a few mm or so or use a deep base screed it's easier
It can extend the Drying time by days a also weaken the screed and you sometimes get a dirty brown discolouration which doesn't look a pleasant finish
Don't use wet material Needs to be a dry product
