It's a safer option to float the engineered wood. If your going to stick you really need to grind the surface of the screed, prime and then glue....
If its perfect can you not just stick straight to it? Doesn't sound good to me but I have seen it done.

whats the point of that? Why not glue it and nail it, might make them happy? I dont fit wood on to joists that much, when I have Ive always nailed it.

That's balls though, I never stick down domestic vinyl. Why can't u use double sided on felt back? The material tape still holds it?
I try to loose lay vinyl if possible, if it needs pushing out I use anti plas double sided tape.
