Spot on there mate, lazy tilers really do my head in. I always get the customer that wants the whole of the upstairs carpeted but doesn't want a big step into the bathroom that's miles higher than the rest of the floor. I love the look on their face when I tell them to ply out the whole upstairs then. Like you say mate either way it's a bodge to hit the height of the tiles ramp or gripper. It's all down to bad planning of floor finish heights
The worst i've seen tilers do is when they uplift the old carpet in bathrooms, leave a double doorbar in and put thier tiles where the carpet goes.then the client wants it changed and you cant get them out.i tell the customers to get the tiler back to get them out and i'll put a proper one in,i aint gonna chance it and damage the tiles
Ditto Kevin I've had that a couple of times shody and lazy one of my clients had only just had theirs done so they got the tiler back in to remove the tiles then remove the bar and reinstate the tiles. He was right cursing me down huffin an puffin to the point he approached me outside the property out of ear shot and sight of the customer having a right go at me, sayin I cost him money the usual blah blah story. I was like listen mate if you can't do your job properly then don't do it almost got to fisty cuffs he soon backed away when he saw the stretcher spikes extended. He walked away an said you carpet fitters are all the same always got summit to winge about, I was yeah thas cause all you other trades can't do your job properly move on talk to the hand cause the face ain't listening.
